Free your Mind – Public Event, with physical presence and online

Τhe Society of Cretan Historical Studies (SCHS) and the University of Crete Research Center for the Humanities, the Social and Education Sciences (UCRC) are pleased to invite you to the public event “Youth activism against Dictatorships”, which will be carried out in physical presence and online, at the Historical Museum of Crete of SCHS, Heraklion, Crete, on the 16th of May 2022.
The event is open to both high school and university students, as well as teachers and the general public. The morning session (in Greek, with physical presence) centers on the Museum’s Educational Activity for high school students of the School of European Education of Heraklion and students of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Crete. In the (hybrid) noon session on “Resistance Movements by Youth against dictatorships in Southern Europe” participants will offer brief presentations (in English) on topics related to their countries’ experience. The screening of a video documentary about the Greek Dictatorship will follow, with comments by two participants and a discussion with the audience. Simultaneous interpretation from Greek to English will be provided for the online participants.
The event is co-organized by SCHS and UCRC in the framework of the project “Free your mind: Youth Activism in Southern Europe in Times of Dictatorship” (FYM), under the European Commission’s “Europe for Citizens – European Remembrance” (REMEM) programme, coordinated by Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa.
